World class twin beach volleyball courts to be unveiled on May 17

Advertisement The unveiling will take place just before the opening ceremony of the 2021 President Beach Volleyball Cup Championship at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in the state. The courts said to be world-class are built by Musa Nimrod, secretary-general of Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3. Speaking with journalists on Friday, Nimrod said the courts will continually produce more beach volleyball players and give children the opportunity to train without hindrances. Advertisement The CAVB secretary urged stakeholders, who are willing to invest in volleyball and beach volleyball, to continue believing in the growth of the sport in the country. “I am happy to announce to the world that twin beach volleyball courts will be used at this year’s President Beach Volleyball Cup in Kaduna state. The courts will allow us to play more games and one of the courts will serve as a training court,” Nimrod said.

As at yesterday, Team Delta had amassed 26 medals which include 15 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze. Following closely behind is Bayelsa who have won 12 goal, 6 silver and 4 bronze bringing their medal haul to 22 just as the host,  Edo are third on the table with 25 medals comprising of 3 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals. Kwara have so far picked 1 gold and 1 bronze to place fourth on the table while Kano have 5 medals made up of 4 silver and 1 bronze to place fifth.

Volleyball: Nigeria Qualify For FIVB World Championship, Retain U-19 Title

  Nigeria’s U-19 volleyball boys team have retained their title as champions of Africa after beating Morocco 3-0 (25-8, 25-21, 25-23) on the final day of the 2021 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja. Both countries have also sealed qualification to the 2021 FIVB U-19 World Championship in Iran. The Nigerian boys were unstoppable in the first set as they cruised past the Moroccans in the opening minutes as a fantastic combination of the setters and spikers saw Nigeria humiliate Morocco by 25-8 points. The second set produced interesting rallies, blocks, and spikes from both teams but the home team took the set by 25-21 points. Nigeria came into the 3rd set with a dominant attitude, killing it 8-1 at the first technical timeout. Morocco re-strategised with substitutions to foil the Nigerian attack, but it was too late for the North Africans as Nigeria went on to win it 25-23 points.
