36 6mw Daral Khwar project starts power generation

July 9, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Daral Khwar Hydropower Project in Swat had started electricity generation of 36.6 megawatts, which would provide a hefty revenue of Rs1.3 billion annually to the province, an official said on Thursday. Addressing a function in this connection here, Secretary Energy and Power Muhammad Zubair Khan congratulated Chief Executive PEDO, Muhammad Naeem Khan, and his team on successful commissioning and initiation of operational activities of this important project. He said the Daral Khwar Hydropower project was constructed in the Bahrain area of Swat district with the assistance of Chinese engineers. He said that the electricity generated by the project had been added to the national grid system.

PHC moved against recruitment in Pedo July 4, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) was moved against recruitment in the Power Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) for Balakot and Lawi projects. A writ petition was filed by Syed Azaz Ahmed and others. They are seeking to stop interviews for recruitment, terming it violation of the fundamental rights of petitioners and against the rules. The counsel for petitioners, Babar Khan Yousafzai, filed the writ petition seeking to declare impugned advertisement as illegal. He argued that the rules under which the advertisement was placed had been repealed. The petition said that the existing employees were neglected in the recruitment process for higher positions.

Adviser suspends Swat hydropower project director Peshawar February 20, 2021 PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Energy and Power Himayatullah Khan on Friday expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work on the 84 Megawatt Matiltan Hydropower Project in Swat and suspended its project director. The energy adviser sought an inquiry report about causes of the delay in the project within seven days, said a communication, adding he issued these directives while visiting ongoing energy projects in the Swat district. The adviser was accompanied by Secretary Power and Energy Muhammad Zubair Khan and Pedo Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Naeem Khan. During the inspection of the under-construction 84MW Matilan Project, the adviser found that the project director had failed to implement directives given to him four months ago.
