The SAHRC has welcomed substantial progress made by the Western Cape education department in placing pupils in schools.
The intervention follows a complaint laid by ANC chief whip Muhammad Khalid regarding the huge number of unplaced pupils.
The department said it could not physically force the pupils into a school.

The SAHRC s intervention follows a complaint laid by ANC MPL and chief whip Muhammad Khalid regarding the huge number of unplaced pupils in the province.
According to the department s calendar, pupils started their academic year on 15 February.

MANSEHRA: Zainab Khalid, who secured the top position among the female candidates in the Central Superior Services examination 2020 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aims to mitigate the sufferings of women.
“The women have the courage and abilities but they are not provided with the opportunities to pursue their goals,” she told reporters on Sunday.
Khalid, who stood first among female candidates and was ranked seventh overall in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the CSS result declared the other day, has become the first female police officer in Mansehra.
Being the daughter of a banker Muhammad Khalid, she received her primary education from her native town Garhi Habibullah.
Lockdown to be imposed in Hangu during Eid holidays

HANGU: The district administration would impose a complete lockdown as per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) new guidelines for the prevention of Covid-19 from May 8 to 16.
Speaking at a meeting held in connection with the security plan and lockdown on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Khalid and District Police Officer Nisar Ahmad Khan said that the new guidelines against the Covid-19 would be implemented in letter and spirit and inter-district transport would be strictly banned in the district.
They said that parks and other recreational places would remain closed while entry and exit points on the routes leading to these sites and tourist spots outside the district would also be blocked to stop people’s access.
