Subscriber only Police are preparing to lay formal charges after a stash of drugs were allegedly found during a routine traffic stop. Tweed Byron Police District said in a statement officers were patrolling in Mullumbimby when they stopped a Honda Civid for a random breath test about 11pm on Saturday. The 23-year-old male driver complied with this test and returned a negative reading, police said. During the test, police noticed a small bag containing what appeared to be cannabis on the floor of the vehicle. Police will allege a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered cannabis, 13 bags containing a total of 13.42g of ketamine and $715 in cash.

Subscriber only A woman has been charged after an attack to a musician busking in the Byron Shire. NSW Police confirmed that at around 10.51am on Tuesday, January 19, a 34 year old woman was at a pharmacy in Mullumbimby, seeking assistance from the pharmacist. Outside the pharmacy, a 24 year-old male was playing an electric guitar. After walking out of the shop, the woman allegedly poured her cup of takeaway coffee over the man s head, drenching his head, clothing and guitar. It is unknown whether the coffee was hot at the time of the attack. After pouring the coffee over his head, the woman said words of the effect of, Say goodbye. You should get a blood test, I peed in the coffee, a police spokesman said.

Subscriber only Tweed Byron Police District officers are reminding drivers to Have a Plan B if they plan on drinking over the festive season. Following a number of random breath tests, acting Inspector Rod Morris said a number of people were caught driving under the influence across the Tweed Byron district. Police will be out in force over the holiday period and stationery and mobile Random Breath Testing will be conducted across the District, he said. The message from Police is, If you are going to drink, don t drive and Have a Plan B.
