India aims to develop 78 maritime tourism landmarks, says PM Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurating the Maritime India Summit 2021 through video conferencing. In the conference, the PM asserted that his government is planning to invest in port and waterways infrastructure and that the Ministry of Port Shipping and Waterways has created a list of 400 investable projects.
Elaborating more on the country’s long coastline, the PM said that the coastlines here have potential to become tourism hubs. The Indian government is planning to develop landmark destinations around the lighthouses across the coastline and the country has 189 such lighthouses.

India: International flights suspended till March end

India has suspended scheduled international flights once again. As per the reports, international flights will now remain suspended till March end. However, cargo flights will still continue to operate. The ban on overseas flights was supposed to end on February 28.
Also, flights operating under the air travel bubble will continue as they have been operating all the while. Currently, India has air bubble agreement with around 27 countries, which include countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bahrain, Ethiopia, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Iraq, Kuwait, Kenya, Nepal, Maldives, the Netherlands, Oman, Nigeria, Rwanda, Qatar, the Seychelles, Ukraine, Tanzania, the UAE, Uzbekistan, the UK, and the United States of America.
Lakshadweep aims to develop world-class cruise tourism

Lakshadweep has proposed cruise tourism in order to generate employment opportunities, and also bring foreign exchange to the Union Territory. The idea is to develop a cruise tourism model similar to that in the Maldives and Mauritius. Thus, in a few years time, we might have a world-class cruising facility in the island of Lakshadweep.
The Union Territory has informed the Ministry of Home Affairs in its proposal that it would like to dedicate a tourist ship in the islands. Lakshadweep Islands are a treat to the sore eye with azure waters, and incredibly beautiful sandy beaches. They certainly have the potential to become a world-class cruise destination.
