Updated April 27 at 9:07 PM The past year has seen a number of breakout vegan restaurants, from Mama Dut to Dirty Lettuce and Mirisata. Now, you can add Mitate to the list. After a series of successful popups, the plant based sushi purveyor has announced plans to open a food cart. Mitate will launch its first permanent spot at the CORE cart pod on Southeast 82nd Avenue in June. Known for its elaborate rolls topped with sake-poached pears and black truffle sauce, Mitate held its first pop last October. It quickly gained a following, selling out regularly at its first host, Ruse Brewing, and then at Mestizo.
The Oregon Brewers Festival Will Return in 2022 (Hopefully)
Back in 2020, the team behind the Oregon Brewers Festival decided to cancel its 33rd year of beer tastings on the waterfront. The festival was supposed to run in late July, and with coronavirus spreading rapidly through the state, organizers didn’t feel confident that they would be able to safely host guests. It seems the festival won’t return in 2021, either: On Monday evening, the site admins for the Oregon Brewers Festival Facebook page posted the cancelation announcement. “This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but we are canceling this summer’s festival once again,” the post reads. “Until then, stay safe and support your local pubs, breweries, and cider houses.” According to the post, the event will return July 27 through July 30 in 2022.
