Former Syracuse lacrosse player Chase Scanlan has entered the transfer portal, according to Inside Lacrosse. Scanlan was Syracuse s leading goal scorer this past season until an incident following the Orange s loss to North Carolina.
The incident eventually led to his arrest on misdemeanor domestic violence related charges of criminal mischief in May. Immediately after the incident, Scanlan was suspended by the program but subsequently reinstated in accordance with Title IX requirements.
The reinstatement led to current players threatening to walk out of practice if he was allowed to participate. Scanlan was suspended again following the arrest.
Syracuse men s lacrosse has undergone quite the change this offseason. Longtime legendary head coach John Desko retired, while Gary Gait has taken his place. New York state reaches milestone: Half of all New Yorkers have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, a major milestone in the state’s fight against the novel coronavirus. Nearly 10 million New Yorkers, or 50% of all state residents, have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 8.3 million people, or nearly 42% of all state residents, have completed their two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office said Sunday.

CAR SMASHES THROUGH WINDOW OF CITY BUILDING: A car crashed completely inside a building on James Street in Syracuse Thursday afternoon. The crash happened at about 3:10 p.m. at 2425 James, according to the Onondaga County 911 Center. The car went through a glass window front and came to a stop inside the building.

Former Syracuse star Tiana Mangakahia has signed a professional contract to play in the National Basketball League, a professional basketball organization that has teams in Australia and New Zealand. It is the top league in Australia.
Maganakahia will play with with North OJ Pippin Homes Northside Wizards. She is a native of Brisbane, Australia, and the opportunity will allow her to compete in her home country closer to her family.
