Koch springs for another Habitat for Humanity build in Springfield

Steve Koch is right there beside them. In addition to some of the grittier work, like framing, hanging drywall and landscaping that he s done in the past, Koch has also drafted volunteers and served as project coordinator for some of the builds. And once again, Koch, a financial planner and partner with Ameriprise Financial Services in Springfield, is providing financial equity to one of Habitat s three construction projects. Koch and his wife, Jodie, are underwriting the entire cost $90,000 for Habitat s spring build which will involve volunteers from a number of area Catholic parishes. Last year, Koch single-handedly financed the build of a home to the tune of $112,000 and contributed about $40,000 to another building that was going on at the same time on the same lot.

TH First Citizen Award winner: Judy Wolf

Judy Wolf feels comfortable stepping up to help when her community is in need. “I’m not too much of a spectator,” she said. “I usually get heavily involved in anything I do.” After retiring from a career with John Deere Co., Wolf, 70, finds herself at the helm of a new challenge — steering a startup child care center during a global pandemic. “There’s always a lot to do, and I’m up for the challenge,” said Wolf, the recipient of the 51st annual Telegraph Herald First Citizen Award. Wolf has helped lead local United Way fundraising campaigns and served on boards for nonprofit organizations that provide counseling to individuals and families, financial literacy for young people and Catholic education to local students.
