⢠Randi L. Hamilton, 39, of Newton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance at 7:43 p.m. Nov. 27 in the 1700 block of North 19th Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, officers viewed Hamilton walking westbound on the shoulder of North 19th Avenue East on the west side of the road. Police stopped to speak with her to inform her walking on the shoulder is a violation. Officers recognized Hamilton and requested a warrant check through Jasper County Dispatch. They found she had active warrants for probation violation on the original charges of third-degree burglary and possession of contraband in a correction institution. The officer placed her under arrest for the warrants and asked Hamilton if she had anything on her person, and she informed police she had a used needle/syringe in her front left pants pocket. ⢠Roxanne R. Vanersvelde, 59, of Newton, was charged with violation of no contact order and operating while under the influence second offense at 3:43 p.m. Dec. 8 in the 400 block of North Third Avenue East. According to the Newton Police Department, Vanersvelde reported to the NPD she was being followed by the victim. The victim called the police a few minutes later saying Vanersvelde was parked in the middle of the road near the residence and was being aggressive. A argument ensued and when officers arrived, the victim showed police a cell phone video recurring of Vanersvelde during the argument. She was seen approaching the victim and her car. A check Vanersveldeâs information showed an active protection order forbidding her from being near the victim or residence. Vanersvelde was arrested and taken to jail.

DYERSVILLE, Iowa â After months of delays brought on by a natural disaster as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, work to complete a major development in downtown Dyersville is nearing the homestretch as two businesses prepare to move in.
Next month, Spireon Inc. will relocate to the new $8.8 million building known as The Landing, which is being developed north of First Avenue East and west of Second Street Northeast. The building not only will offer commercial space but loft apartments and condos on the upper levels as well.
Each floor of the building is about 22,000 square feet. The building also will include a lower level for parking.
