Several Acadiana principals in running for state Principal of the Year The Acadiana region boasts several principals in the running for state Principal of the Year, with five of the 24 semifinalists for 2022 Louisiana Principal of the Year hailing from the eight-parish region. Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion parishes all are represented in the list of principal semifinalists released by the Louisiana Department of Education this week.  Lafayette Ginger Richard, principal of Green T. Lindon Elementary School in Youngsville, was named the district Elementary Principal of the Year before moving on to the state competition. Richard has been an educator in the Lafayette Parish School System for 17 years, starting as a teacher at Ridge Elementary where she was voted Teacher of the Year in 2008-09.
