Seminar speakers put stress on transgender persons’ rights

MARDAN: Speakers at an awareness seminar on Monday demanded social acceptance and enacting effective legislation to curb violence and discrimination of the most neglected and vulnerable segments of society.
The Gynae-B unit of Mardan Medical Complex had organized the the day-long session titled “Seminar on Transgender Identities and their Health Problems in Pakistan” held in Haider Hall of Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC).
Dean/CEO BKMC Prof Dr Muhammad Fazil, MD Prof Dr Mukhtiar Ali, In-charge Gynae-B ward Prof Dr Samina Jadoon, Prof Dr Mutasim Billah were present on the occasion.Programme Coordinator Blue Veins, a nonprofit social welfare organization working for the rights of transgender, Qamar Naseem, President Tans Action Alliance Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ms Fazana, Trans Rights Activists Namkin, Mahi and others attended the seminar.
MMC tends to 3,522 patients on Eidul Azha

MARDAN: The Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) on Friday released a detailed report on the performance of various departments of the hospital according to which 3,522 patients were provided medical facilities during Eidul Azha.
Medical Director Prof Dr Mukhtiar Ali said all departments including Accident and Emergency Surgery, Medicine, Gynaecology, Cardiology, Intensive Care Unit, Orthopaedic, Neurosurgery, ENT, Laboratory, Radiology, Dialysis, Peads, Dental etc remained fully operational during Eidul Azha.
He said a total of 3,522 patients were examined at the hospital during the festival while a total of 3,510 tests were conducted, adding 423 patients were admitted to different departments during Eid. During Eid, 3,192 patients were examined alone at the Accident and Emergency Department.
