TIFTON â For the past several years, B.J. Smith, a local restaurant owner, has sponsored and hosted the annual Mims Kids Christmas Dinner.
This year, due to the pandemic, an alternative plan had to be developed to ensure the safety of the children. Earlier this month, the Mims Kids Annual Christmas Dinner was held at 41 and Main, organizers said in a statement.
Thirty-five children participated and the children were escorted into the restaurant one by one, greeted at the Christmas tree by Mrs. Claus (Smith) where pictures were taken.

The Tifton City Council passed a mask mandate for 30 days with no fines or penalties for not following the mask mandate. By Billy Malone | The Tifton Gazette
TIFTON- The Tifton City Council reconsidered a citywide mask mandate after a procedural hiccup called its original ordinance into question, but the mandate passed once again with a 3-2 vote.
Residents both for and against the mandate came to the meeting to speak during public comments, most speaking against such an order.Â
Again, councilman Jack Folk motioned in favor of the mandate with a second from M. Jay Hall. The amended motion limited the order to 30 days and took away all possibilities of fines and penalties for not following the mandate.Â
