The KFC franchise has expanded once again, opening its 60th store in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday.
The store, in X-tra Plaza, Sangre Grande, opened on Monday with the reopening of the food and beverage industry.

Food service businesses had been closed since March after the government announced restrictions owing to a spike in covid19 cases.

After an unplanned delay of more than two months, Prestige Holdings finally had the opportunity to open its 60th Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at Xtra Plaza, Guiaco, Sangre Grande.
CEO Simon Hardy said the restaurant was set to be open in April, but Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley’s announcement that restaurants would be shut down as a COVID-19 precautionary measure put the launch on pause.

Prestige Holdings Ltd has recorded an eight per cent decrease in sales for the first six months of 2021.
In its unaudited consolidated financial statement for the period ending May 31, chairman Christian Mouttet said the loss was greater than 2020 for the same period.
“For the first six months of 2021, group sales decreased by eight per cent to $393 million from $428 million in the prior year, and this resulted in a loss before tax of $19.8 million compared to a loss of $7.1 million for the same period in 2020.

With the lockdowns imposed on restaurants and food places because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prestige Holdings Ltd had to include a provision of $2.2 million for inventory that has expired or is expected to expire before they are eventually allowed to reopen, chairman Christian E. Mouttet has stated.
Mouttet made the statement as he delivered the chairman’s report to shareholders for the half-year ended May 31, 2021.
