Arcanum man sentenced to 6 months in jail

TROY A Darke County resident and Troy area businessman was sentenced Monday, May 3, to six months in the Miami County Jail following pleas to charges involving child pornography.
David J. Kessler, 57, was described in Miami County Common Pleas Court as a community leader and supporter of youth activities in Arcanum, where he resides.
Kessler, who is in the construction business, pleaded guilty to 10 felony charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor between July 2016 and last August.
Defense lawyer Jose Lopez said Kessler was a “good man” with no criminal record. His family and friends, he said, were shocked by the allegations.
Man indicted on burglary, kidnapping charges

SIDNEY – A Piqua man was indicted on a charge of aggravated burglary and two charges of kidnapping, each of which are first degree felonies, by the Shelby County grand jury Thursday.
Zaqon Marteece Zion Clemons, 22, of Piqua, along with others, is accused of forcing entry into an occupied home on South Street in Sidney and inflicting physical harm on the victims. He also reportedly restrained a man and a woman during the burglary on Dec. 1, 2020.
Other indictments included:
• Travis R. Morley, 27, who is in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on charges of failure to comply with an order or signal of an officer, a third degree felony, receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony.
