Hopper named new general manager of CMU

Hopper named new general manager of CMU Chillicothe News Matt Hopper has been named the new general manager of Chillicothe Municipal Utilities (CMU). Hopper, the head of the CMU Electric Department will assume his new role in July when Jim Gillilan retires after 43 years of service with CMU. Hopper has worked for CMU for 32 years, the last 12 as the electric superintendent.  Under his leadership, The Electric Department made upgrades and repairs to the city’s substations, initiated a tree trimming program that has almost eliminated outages due to tree limbs falling on power lines due to storms.  He also started a program to move power lines underground in targeted areas and replaced many aging transmission poles.

He was 72. Donald Wayne Chastain was born on January 19, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Everett Martin Chastain, Jr., and Vivian Caroline Peiler Chastain. Everett Chastain, Jr. made the United States Army his career, so the family moved many times from Kentucky, twice to Germany, Missouri, and to Virginia when Everett worked at the Pentagon. They finally moved to Hawaii, home to Vivian, when he retired from the Army. Don graduated from Waipahu High School in 1968 and joined the Army following his father’s footsteps. He was with the last All Hawaii Company and did Basic Training in Fort Ord, California. After his training at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, Don was transferred to Germany, came home on leave, and married his high school sweetheart, Jeannie. He then

Standard-Times The Middleborough Gas and Electric Department is pleased to announce that Ken Stone has joined the staff as Assistant General Manager. He’ll work with General Manager Jackie Crowley on infrastructure projects, MGED’s future energy portfolio, rate design and energy programming to meet customer needs.  Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University. Ken brings more than 20 years of public utility experience at the Braintree Electric Light Department, working on integrated energy services and utility finance. He has managed a variety of challenging projects including construction of the natural gas service for a generating station, implementation of new financial software, development of operating policies and compliance audits on Northeast Reliability Council (NERC) safety standards.
