The country starts its 10-day celebrations of Mujib Borsho and golden jubilee of independence today with colourful events and presence of global leaders.
The celebrations have been planned to coincide with the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led Bangladesh s Liberation War against Pakistan in 1971. The celebrations will end on March 26 on Independence Day.
The occasion is well worth a celebration and the government has arranged countrywide programmes to mark it, given the country s socio-economic progress in the last decades and its important place in the global arena.
Different countries as well as experts have lauded Bangladesh, which has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. It is well on track to graduate from a least developed country (LDC) to a developing one by 2026.

BNP is out to fish in muddled water: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP is making their evil attempts to create unrest in the country to fish in muddled water.
He was addressing a ceremony marking warm cloth distribution, inauguration of different projects and foundation stones laying of some development works at Kabirhat Upazila in Noakhali district.
Quader joined the function through a videoconferencing from his official residence on parliament premises in Dhaka.
Calling upon BNP not to consider government’s silence as its weakness, the minister said: “Don’t make evil attempts. There is no other constitutional way to go to power without polls.”

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2020 (BSS) â Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Dhaka was happy with the outcome of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasinaâs talks with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi saying all issues of Bangladesh concerns were raised in the summit.
âWe raised all kinds of issues we have with India . . . the summit outcome was very good (and) we are happy,â he told a media briefing outlining the talks results at Padma state guesthouse in the capital.
He said the Bangladesh delegation took lion share of the 1:15 hour summit time while vaccine, water sharing, border killing, trade cooperation and connectivity largely dominated the virtual summit.
