HUBBELL Police are investigating the shooting of a Hubbell woman by officers responding to a report of shots fired at the house Monday night.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home about 9:15 p.m. Monday, according to a release from the MSP.
Officers encountered a 28-year-old woman outside the house with a gun, the MSP said.
In a video posted online by a bystander, officers are heard yelling “Drop the gun!’ at a person coming out of the house. The person, who appeared to be carrying a pistol, repeatedly yelled back “F ing shoot,” “shoot me” and “I’m going to f blow my brains out.”

A pickup truck hit the facade of Erickson Feed, Seed & Pet Supply in Hurontown around noon on Friday.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were dispatched around noon Friday to Erickson Feed, Seed & Pet Supply in Hurontown in response to a pickup truck that smashed into one of the store’s buildings, injuring the driver. The building and the truck received heavy damage in the crash. The driver was transported by Mercy EMS to UP Health System-Portage hospital, but his condition is currently not known. On Friday afternoon, Sergeant Russell Larson of the State Police Calumet Post said that no other information was available at that time, because the crash is under investigation and preliminary information was still being gathered.
