July 1, 2021
The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Asheville Tourists 9-2 Thursday night at L.P. Frans Stadium. The win is Hickory’s third in a row, and they have won four of their last five games.
For the third straight contest, Hickory jumped on the Tourists pitching staff early, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kellen Strahm walked to open up the contest. Jonathan Ornelas, facing a 1-2 count, hit a home run to center field, and Hickory led 2-0. Blaine Crim followed with a double to left field. Trey Hair then singled putting runners on the corners. A passed ball pushed Hair to second, before Miguel Aparicio homered on a 2-1 pitch to clear the bases.
