At 8:12 p.m. on Sunday, emergency services were dispatched to a residential fire at 61 Hornberger Dr, Fayette Township. Public Information Officer, Glenn Kerstetter, stated the cause of the fire is under investigation. Two adults were injured and air-lifted to Lehigh Valley Health Network-Burn Center. Kerstetter did not comment on the severity of the injuries. Assisting on scene was Fayette Fire Co, Delaware Township Fire & Rescue Co., Mifflintown Hose Co., and Fayette EMS.

Shirley T. Groce, 85, of Mifflintown, passed away at 6:25 p.m., on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at her home.
Born on May 24, 1935, in Walker Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Howard D. “Buzz” and Virginia W. (Jones) Renninger, Sr. On Aug. 8, 1961, she married her late husband, Richard C. “Pete” Groce with whom she was blessed to share 28 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1989.
Surviving are: daughters, Kelli J. Houtz and husband, James, Jodi L. Reed and husband, Mark, all of Mifflintown; sisters, Helen A. “Sis” Leach, of Mifflintown, V. Sue Pontius and her husband Marvin, of Thompsontown; a sister-in-law, Carol A. Renninger, of Mifflintown; two brothers-in-law, Timothy Gray, Charles Swartwood, both of Mifflintown, three grandchildren, Jacob J. Houtz and his companion, Lexi Shellenberger, Jennifer L. Houtz and Lilli J. Reed and several generations of nieces and nephews.

MIFFLINTOWN- A barn fire occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 2, on William Drive, Fermanagh Township. The Juniata County Dispatch received the call of the fire at 10:27 a.m. Mifflintown Hose Co. assisted on scene and were there until about 2:30 p.m. Truck Captain Matt Myers, said that there were no injuries reported, however the barn is a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown. The Fire Marshall will continue to investigate futher.

The remnants of the truss manufacuring plant destroyed in Tuesday nightâs fire at Allensville Planing Mill continue to give off smoke Wednesday morning in Allensville. Fire crews from five counties responded to the blaze and local crews were called back to the scene Wednesday during the day to keep the fire from flaring up once again.
ALLENSVILLE A Tuesday night fire destroyed the truss manufacturing plant at Allensville Planing Mill in Allensville, but the store and other buildings within the complex remain operational.
Throughout the day Wednesday, fire crews were called back to the scene to keep the still-smoldering remains of the building from flaring up once more.
