The Maldives has announced that visas for tourists from India and other nations in South Asia will be halted with effect from May 13 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In a post on Twitter, Maldives Immigration released a statement that said, “Temporary suspension for tourists and all other categories of visa holders originating from South Asian countries.”

The Maldives had become a favourite tourist destination for Indian travellers, including Bollywood stars, in the past few months. However, in a new development on Wednesday, the island nation has banned tourists from India and other South Asian countries.

The Maldives has announced that it s placing a ban on travellers from South Asian countries, including India, in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases. From May 13, visas for tourists from India will be halted temporarily.
The Maldives Immigration released a statement in a post on Twitter that stated, “Temporary suspension for tourists and all other categories of visa holders originating from South Asian countries.”
