Parking squeeze has to be eased in combined colleges project, parents say

But before any new classrooms were built, or architect renderings completed, parents on the school run last week wanted parking to be a priority for the project. Marlborough Girls’ College principal Mary-Jeanne Lynch said the “master planning” phase of the project allowed for ongoing discussion about how students could safely get to school. BRYA INGRAM/STUFF Ioree McKenzie says parents often came to school pick-up early, so they could get a park. “The school started in 1963, so at the time, the school was a lot smaller and there weren’t as many cars around, there wasn’t as much traffic and certainly students didn’t have cars,” Lynch said.

Builder appointed for Marlborough colleges co-location project

Google Maps Construction firm Naylor Love will deliver the co-location of Marlborough Boys College and Marlborough Girls College on the current girls college and Bohally Intermediate School site, on McLauchlan St in Blenheim. The building company to deliver Marlborough’s long-awaited co-located colleges project has been appointed, but the time-frame and final costs are yet to be nailed down. Naylor Love, New Zealand s largest privately-owned commercial construction company, has been appointed by the Government to take charge of the three schools’ rebuild and relocation. The project, estimated at more than $100 million, will see Marlborough Boys’ and Girls’ Colleges relocated on the site currently occupied by the girls college and Bohally Intermediate. The intermediate will be rebuilt on the current boys’ college site.
