MICHIGAMME TOWNSHIP, MI A downstate woman has been killed in a multiple-vehicle crash in Michigamme Township.
Around 6 p.m. Saturday troopers from the Negaunee Post were dispatched to US-41 near mile marker 102. Officers say a Pontiac Aztek driven by a 20-year-old Fenton woman was westbound when she lost control of the vehicle and hit
Two eastbound vehicles.
The driver suffered fatal injuries. Her passenger, a 19-year-old woman from Brighton, was taken to UPHS-Marquette with serious injuries. Two other injured motorists were taken to UPHS-Bell for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigamme/Spur First Responders, Marquette County Rescue 131, the Michigamme Fire Department, Champion Fire Department, and the Marquette County Road Commission.

MICHIGAMME TOWNSHIP A 20-year-old woman died from injuries suffered in a Saturday accident in Michigamme Township, according to the Michigan State Police.
Michigan State Police reported that at about 6 p.m. Saturday, troopers from the MSP Negaunee Post and deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multi-vehicle traffic accident on U.S. 41 near mile marker 102 in Michigamme Township. The investigation determined that a red 2005 Pontiac Aztek driven by a 20-year-old female from downstate Fenton and her 19-year-old female passenger from downstate Brighton were westbound on U.S. 41 when the driver lost control of her vehicle and collided with two eastbound vehicles, police said.

MARQUETTE A man was lodged in the Marquette County Jail following a single-vehicle crash at 4 p.m. Monday.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reported that it was dispatched to a single-vehicle personal-injury accident on Silver Creek Road west of Sicotte Street in Sands Township. The vehicle involved was a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by a 56-year-old Marquette man.
The man was treated and released at the scene by UP Health System EMS.
The sheriff’s office said the man was traveling east on Silver Creek Road when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into trees on the north side of the road.

MARQUETTE A lost hunter was found Sunday off Marquette County Road KK, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The sheriff’s office reported that at 6 p.m. Sunday, it was dispatched to Powell Township for a lost hunter, along with Marquette County Search and Rescue.
Erik Bjornson, 48, of Negaunee, was hunting grouse when he became lost and wet. Bjornson contacted Central Dispatch for assistance. Central Dispatch then obtained a GPS coordinate from the 911 call.
Rescue personnel quickly located Bjornson, and EMS evaluated him at the scene. No medical treatment was required and he went home on his own.
