These are some of the top stories this week on Space.com.  NASA astronauts performed the 234th spacewalk. A duo of NASA astronauts currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) performed a spacewalk on Monday (Feb. 1). The goal of this extravehicular activity (EVA) was to install a European science platform and to finish up a series of battery replacements outside the orbiting laboratory. This endeavour, performed by astronauts Victor Glover and Mike Hopkins, was the 234th spacewalk ever performed in support of space station maintenance and assembly, according to NASA.

Feb 02, 2021 09:33:14 IST Two highschoolers from Massachusetts have helped discover four new exoplanets, according to new reports. The high school students, 12-year-old Kartik Pingle and 18-year-old Jasmine Wright are the second and third authors on the paper describing the discovery that was published on 25 January in release by Harvard, the two participated in the research which detailed the discovery of four new exoplanets about 200-light years away from Earth through the Student Research Mentoring Program (SRMP) at the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard & Smithsonian (CfA).

Description: Two high school students and their mentor, MIT postdoc Tansu Daylan, have discovered four new exoplanets located about 200 light years from Earth, reports Nora McGreevy for  Smithsonian. The students were participating in the Student Research Mentoring Program, which pairs young astronomers with scientists at MIT and Harvard. “[The students] are so good at finding things that may skip your eyes, basically. It’s fun. And I really like the exchange of ideas,” Daylan adds.
