A fugitive accused of armed robbery and assault who authorities were searching for for months was apprehended by Massachusetts State Police on Thursday with a so-called “ghost gun,” officials said.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Marino Pimental, was wanted on warrants for armed robbery, assaults with a dangerous weapon, firearm offenses and making threats for crimes allegedly committed in Methuen, according to a statement from state police.
State police troopers from the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) and detective unit for Essex County started searching for the suspect last summer, checking numerous address and interviewing multiple sources of information. However, the fugitive wasn’t found, the statement said.

Massachusetts State Police launches body-worn camera system, with troopers beginning training this week

Massachusetts State Police on Thursday said it launched its body-worn camera system as personnel assigned to Troop F began training with the technology this week.
Troop F, which is located in East Boston near Logan International Airport, will be the first MSP section to wear the cameras after training, according to a press release issued by state police. Officials selected Troop F as the site of the training because it operates out of a single barracks location, they said.
Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Col. Christopher S. Mason said the body-worn camera program represents the next step in the effort to keep officers safe while also holding them accountable for their actions.
Missing Lowell Man Found Dead
A 75-year-old man who was reported missing Thursday in Lowell, Massachusetts, has been found dead.
A Silver Alert was issued for Saroun Kouch after he was last seen around 2:30 p.m. in the area of South Street.
The body of Kouch was found in a brook near the intersection of Lawrence Street and Whipple Street, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney s Office. Foul play was not suspected. I want to extend my condolences to the family of Mr. Kouch and thank all the members of the community who collaborated in the search for Mr. Kouch s. We are saddened by the outcome of the search, District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement.

Authorities on Wednesday praised a father and son from Leicester, Massachusetts for their role in rescuing three people and a dog who crashed in a small plane a day earlier in a remote part of town.
The plane crashed off Moosehill Road around 5 p.m. Tuesday. The location was difficult for emergency responders to get to, especially with a foot of fresh snow from a nor easter that dumped up to 18 inches across the region.
Bryce Giggey and his son Mitch responded on snowmobiles after Mitch saw the plane flying low near their house.
