GUWAHATI: A wild buffalo died when security personnel tried to tranquilise it in Biswanath district in the past 24 hours. The adult buffalo, which strayed from the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR), was killed at Kumoliya after it attacked four persons, leaving one dead and two injured.
Biswanath Wildlife Division DFO Mukut Chandra Das told TOI, “The buffalo, which appeared in the park’s Biswanath division, killed a villager, Jayanta Das (45), on Thursday morning. A mahout is also killed on Thursday by an elephant, which is now being tranquilised.”
Das’s death created public anger and sparked a protest with the locals torching a forest range office and Mahindra Bolero vehicle at the site. The animal attacked and killed another person named Sukur Ali on Friday morning.

New Delhi: India is all set to launch the Covid 19 vaccination campaign from tomorrow (16 January), this was informed by the central government on January 9 in a press release.
The rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine is likely to cover 3 lakh frontline healthcare workers across 3,006 sites in the country. The vaccination drive will give priority to the healthcare workers and the frontline workers who are estimated to be around 3 crores, followed by those who are above 50 years of age and the under-50 population groups with co-morbidities numbering around 27 crores, stated in the press release.

Kolhapur: In a shocking incident reported from Rajasthan, a 6 months old pregnant woman from Assam was allegedly sedated, raped and forcibly wedded by two men.
According to media reports, the victim was abducted from Assam with her three-year-old daughter and was allegedly forced to consume a drink that had been mixed with sedatives.
The incident came to light when the victim somehow managed to escape and went to the police station to lodge a complaint.

DIMAPUR: In a major success, the Gurugram police busted a gang that stole luxury cars from Delhi, NCR region and Rajasthan and then sell them in Nagaland.
The gang was unearthed when two members identified as Ankit of Hisar and Zalal of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the crime unit Sector-10 of the Gurugram police.
The accused later confessed that the gang would use to sell high-end luxury cars in Nagaland to an illegal car dealer named Kikheto in Nagaland.
