There are over seven billion people in the world, and every single one of us has had a different COVID-19 pandemic experience. Lives were lost, families were uprooted, and there is no question that society simply cannot just
go back to normal once restrictions are lifted. Yet, as we ve all grown relatively comfortable with the habits and routines we ve picked up over the last year, there are some things we re actually excited to bring with us into the After Times™️. We re not talking about the anxiety spiral that ensued when someone cleared their throat and it sounded like a cough so we ran the other way in the grocery store; we re talking about the practices we ve adopted to take care of ourselves and our mental health during an incredibly scary and dark time.

Filibuster must require senator to speak on point
When we think of the Senate filibuster, we think of Mr. Smith going to Washington, saving struggling homeowners from the evil bankers, stealing homes from hardworking homeowners, widows and orphans. Mr. Smith struggled, on the verge of collapse, turning public opinion to save homeowners from predatory lending institutions. Initially the senate cared more about the bankers political contributions than their struggling constituents.
Today a filibuster is a political strategy in which a senator “speaks,” or threatens to speak for hours, to delay efforts to vote for a bill. The tactic takes advantage of Senate rules that say a senator, once recognized, may speak on an issue without being impeded by anyone. Problem is, the rule has changed; today all a senator must do is threaten to speak, and then go home for an extended weekend, on our dime, to sto

Proof of residency not easy for all
It appears that many married elderly women will not qualify for the COVID-19 vaccine if they must prove their Florida residency according to the published criteria [ How to prove Florida residency for COVID-19 shot, Jan. 23].
Many elderly women don t drive any more so there is no need for a driver s license. These same women may rely on some other document such a Social Security card to prove their identity and would not have a state-issued ID card.
The alternate is two of a list of documents most people have: deeds, mortgages, leases, utility bills, bank statements and government mail showing a Florida address.
I Did This 3-Step Journaling Method For 10 Days, and It Noticeably Improved My Mental Health 199 Shares
I journal in cycles. When I m overwhelmed with stress, emotions, life, etc., I ll fill pages with run-on paragraphs just to get everything out; when I hit a creative streak, I ll sketch elaborate doodles, try some poetry, scribble down sections of half-formed stories, copy down favorite quotes and poems. Sometimes I have to so much to say, I ll fill up every square inch of space on a page; other times, I ll go months without writing. There are no rules in my journal, which is why I ve always rejected the idea of structured journaling. As much as it can help your mental health, filling my notebook with lists of goals, intentions, and things I m grateful for felt so antithetical to the free, creative space I wanted my journal to be.

What have we become?
After watching the assault on the Capitol, I wonder what we have become. It is evident to me that many people love Donald Trump more than they love this country and what it stands for. This whole episode was instigated by the president of the United States. How disgusting.
Watching TV, I was struck by the idea that I was watching a coup in a banana republic. Voltaire once said: Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.
It s time for Trump supporters to decide which they love more: our country, which has given them everything or Donald Trump who, in the final analysis, has given them nothing.
