A FORMER NHS employee stole a haul of electronic devices from a Southampton hospital. Gaven Vythelingum was branded mean and spiteful by a crown court judge for stealing from University Hospital Southampton. Prosecution barrister, Ellie Fargin told how the administration manager traded in the devices - which were worth thousands of pounds - at Cash Converter and Cash Generator stores, bagging himself a cut-price £1,853. A motorbike rider is fighting for his life in a Brisbane hospital after crashing on the Warrego Highway on the outskirts of Ipswich late on Christmas Day.
The accident follows two fatal crashes on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, while police allege 80 Queensland drivers blew over the legal alcohol limit on Wednesday and Thursday alone.
One of 80 Queensland drivers arrested on Wednesday and Christmas Eve for alleged drink driving.
A man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash near Charters Towers yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 5.30pm a Toyota utility was travelling eastbound on Mafeking Road when it has left the roadway, mounted an embankment and overturned.
The driver and sole occupant, a 21-year-old Charters Towers man, died at the scene.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
