Two men have been charged and arrested in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old earlier this month. The shooting happened on May 31 when officials were called to Sprouse Drive in Amherst for reports of shots fired into a residence. While deputies responded, another call was received that a male had been shot and was in a vehicle at the Route 29 Bypass at the Route 130 extension. The shooting occurred around 10 p. m.

A man armed with a knife is in the James River and refuses to come out of the water, according to the Lynchburg Police Department.
Authorities said the man was wanted out of Amherst and was involved in a police chase that started just before 2:30 a.m.
