Dr Polly Russell Debbie Winwood, Home Manager at Mountbatten Grange, added: “Everyone had a wonderful time learning about each dish from our specially created menu, and reminiscing on their favourite memories of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. “At a time when so many of us are longing to visit our favourite restaurant, we thought we’d treat residents at Mountbatten Grange to enjoy just that. With a seven-course tasting menu prepared by our highly-skilled head chef, and a bespoke interactive session led by a nationally acknowledged expert, the residents really were able to enjoy a fine dining experience like no other.

One of the first in the queue for the vaccination was 91-year-old Margaret Purvis, who said: “Brilliant, the vaccine is just what we need, I’m glad I’ve finally had it.” Doctors Edward Harrison and Kirstin Ostle from Dedworth Medical Centre were on hand to do the honours. Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “We were so pleased that residents in our home have had the vaccination. I would like to offer my thanks to the NHS team at Dedworth Medical Centre. They were incredibly efficient, friendly and made sure everything went smoothly which was much appreciated.
The birthday celebration took place at Care UK’s Mountbatten Grange on Helston Lane. To mark the occasion, Win revealed her secret was to ‘keep smiling’ and ‘love everyone’. Win received many cards and gifts from loved ones. The home’s head chef also prepared a special birthday cake, which was enjoyed along with a glass of bubbly to mark the occasion. Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “Win is a well-loved resident and it was fantastic to help her celebrate this incredible milestone with her friends here at the care home. “We always like to celebrate important milestones – and Win’s 102nd birthday was no exception. It was lovely to raise a glass to Win on her special day.”
