TREATS: The Easter Bunny handing out eggs CHILDREN around Horwich received an Egg-stra special visit over the weekend when the Easter bunny delivered them some chocolate surprises. Local community group Lend a Hand s Easter campaign saw them visit dozens of disadvantaged families around the Horwich area on Saturday. The Easter Eggs were donated by Tesco Extra Middlebrook and were delivered by group volunteers Sarah Martin and Alan Straughton, who donned an Easter bunny costume for the occasion. Denise Silcock founded Lend a Hand in Horwich last year, in a bid to help those struggling in the community. The group, which has amassed an army of local volunteers recruited through leaflets and social media, has helped locals with shopping, picking up prescriptions, walking dogs and other odd jobs.

Realising this early on during the coronavirus outbreak, Denise Silcock set up Lend a Hand Horwich It’s the Little Things! She said: “Like many when coronavirus hit I really wanted to do my bit. “For me Covid-19 was far more than a virus, it could be totally life changing as my husband suffers from a very serious lung condition. Due to the health risks and being his full time carer we both went in to ‘shielded’ isolation.
