Phase 2 in Erie: First COVID shots offered to general population in PA

Joseph Neff received an email Monday morning from a friend who said the 26-year-old North East Township man was now eligible, like every other Pennsylvania adult, to get a COVID-19 vaccination. Less than 24 hours later, Neff had already scheduled and received the first of his two recommended doses of the Pfizer vaccine. It s a pretty smooth process, Neff said after receiving his first dose at the UPMC Health Plan Operations Center, 380 E. Bayfront Parkway. I called Monday to schedule a time and the woman asked what date and time worked for me. I grabbed 11:15 (Tuesday) and there were no problems.

COVID in Pa : What Johnson and Johnson pause means for Pennsylvanians

After federal health officials Tuesday said they are recommending a pause in the administration of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, Pennsylvania followed suit. The state has notified all COVID-19 vaccine providers administering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to pause its use until at least April 20, according to a statement from the Department of Health.  Gov. Tom Wolf and state health officials learned of the federal request for a pause at the same time as the general public. The move comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced they are reviewing six reported cases of a rare blood clot found in women after receiving the one-shot vaccine.
