A flyweight bout has been added to the UFC’s August pay-per-view.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Victoria Leonardo (8-3) and Melissa Gatto (6-0-2) will meet in a flyweight bout at UFC 265 on Aug. 7, at a location still to be determined. Leonardo announced the bout on her social media.
A former Invicta FC standout, Leonardo earned a UFC contract last year after defeating Chelsea Hackett on
’s Contender Series. She was unsuccessful in her UFC debut this past January, losing to Manon Fiorot by second-round TKO. In addition to Invicta and the UFC, Leonardo has also competed for Bellator and the Legacy Fighting Alliance.
The above quote is one of the most classic lines from the 2003 hit movie
Old School. It’s how a lot of people really feel about Denver.
Denver and the state of Colorado albeit not the Sunshine State, as that moniker actually belongs to Florida have an allure that draws people from all over the world. The MMA scene in the Mile High City has always been hot, too. Denver is the training spot and often the home as well for many UFC stars, including women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, former contenders Anthony Smith and Justin Gaethje, current contender Cory Sandhagen, and Dustin Jacoby. It’s no wonder a fighter from Pennsylvania who happened to be visiting Colorado decided to permanently move there.
Former MMA fighter Tyler East, the brother of UFC veteran Cody East, was shot and killed in a domestic dispute on Monday night in New Mexico.
According to New Mexico State Police in a report from KOB4, the 30-year-old East was shot and killed near the airport in Los Lunas. Police responded to a call about domestic violence and they found East dead and his girlfriend with a gunshot wound. According to police, East and his girlfriend got into a domestic dispute and East shot her and dragged her out of the house. East was then allegedly shot by someone else, who killed him. The person who shot East fled the scene before police arrived, and New Mexico police are still looking for this person. According to the report, East’s girlfriend is at a hospital and is in stable condition.
