John Lodge releases his new digital single The Sun Will Shine today (Friday, April 30th).
John says he was inspired to write the song while he self-isolated the past year and watched the sunrise every morning over Cocohatchee Bay on Florida’s gulf coast near his home.
John says, It s really about trying to put a little together that doesn t seem to be related to COVID and lockdown, but really it is. The message really is that it will get better and the sun will shine for everyone the way that you look at your life. If you think of it being positive it will shine.
For veteran concertgoer Gary Benson, the waiting is the hardest part.
“I haven’t seen anything for a year, going on a year-and-a-half,” said Benson, 70, of South Daytona, who has been impatiently waiting as shows have been postponed or canceled as the concert industry has been sidelined nationally for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’ve still got concert tickets ready to go from 2019 that I bought,” said Benson, a retired postal worker and voracious classic rock fan who typically buys tickets for roughly 10 major concert tours annually.
Now, at long last, Benson and other music fans are starting to see the drought finally end, as vaccines continue to rollout nationally, pandemic restrictions ease and more acts take to the road.

It was senior night in Trussville, and the top-ranked Huskies celebrated the occasion with a 13-4 victory over Tuscaloosa County. Seniors Madi Mitchell and Meredith Whitt both homered as Hewitt-Trussville (40-2-1, 4-1) captured its 40th win of the season and ninth in-a-row.
Senior pitcher Tori Hyde worked a complete game, holding the visitors to four runs and seven hits while her Huskies scattered 14 hits and built a 5-0 lead after two innings. Fellow seniors Crystal Maze (two hits and two RBIs), Jenna Lord (two hits and two runs scored), Anyce Harvey (three hits and two runs scored) and Katelyn Murphy (one hit and one RBI) also delivered at the plate.
