EVENT HIGHLIGHTS Andhra Pradesh: People cast their vote for Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency elections The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has resumed conduct of stalled poll procedure to the Mandal Parishad and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC, ZPTC) in the state today. Routine walk-in OPD patient registrations, including specialty clinics at the AIIMS Hospital and all centres will be temporarily closed with effect from today, to minimise the spread of the novel coronavirus. The Supreme Court will today hear the pleas filed by Maharashtra government and its former home minister Anil Deshmukh who have challenged the Bombay High Court order directing a CBI probe into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.

Polling began at 7 a.m. and continued till 5 p.m., except in Agency areas where the polling concluded by 2 p.m. The polling was by and large peaceful except for minor incidents.

AP HC stays MPTC, ZPTC elections scheduled for Thursday By ANI|   Updated: 7th April 2021 12:45 pm IST Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued interim orders restricting the state government to conduct Mandal Parishad (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) elections on Thursday. The high court passed the orders on Tuesday while hearing petitions filed by various political parties including Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP). The parties had said that according to a Supreme Court verdict, there should be four weeks’ model code of conduct before the polling. The State Election Commission had earlier issued a notification for the resumption of stalled poll procedure to the MPTC and ZPTC polls in the state and said that the election will be conducted on Thursday from 7 am to 5 am wherever necessary.
