Malik Review - Fahadh Faasil Delivers Another Strong Performance
Follow
Director: Mahesh Narayanan
Mahesh Narayanan s latest film Malik is finally out after being delayed multiple times and is based on actual events that happened in the city of Trivandrum in Kerala. Since it was part of the history of the city I grew up in I was really looking forward to watching it, with both the director and lead actor Fahadh Faasil both delivering back-to-back successes I wondered if Malik would continue the streak or drop the ball.
Malik follows the life of Sulaiman Malik a self-made man who is forced into a life of crime at a young age and despite his best efforts to help his community and give back ultimately does more harm than good. While the movie is described as a crime-thriller it s more akin to a biopic the likes of Mani Ratnam’s Nayakan and is a bit of a slow burn so manage your expectations accordingly.

In January 2017, actor Sarath Kumar had slammed Kamal Haasan ahead of the elections to the South Indian Film Artists Association or the Nadigar Sangam. His charge was that Kamal was creating a rift between actors and breaking the Nadigar Sangam. The angst was because the Universal Hero, as Kamal is popularly referred to, had supported the team opposing Sarath in the elections.
