COTTONWOOD Â One young person died and five more were injured in separate accidents reported over the weekend in Lyon and Yellow Medicine Counties, area law enforcement said.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an ATV crash reported Saturday afternoon in Stanley Township. The operator of the ATV was identified as Parker Viaene of rural Cottonwood. Viaene was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A total of five young men were also injured at a bonfire in rural Granite Falls over the weekend, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said. Three of the injured people, ages 18, 20 and 20, were airlifted for burn treatment.

HANLEY FALLS Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 Tuesday evening, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
A Slayton man and a Raymond man were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 6:04 p.m. at Minnesota Highway 23 and 510th Street in Hanley Falls. A 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Leighton Riley Helmuth, 18, of Raymond, was northbound on 510th Street, and a 2002 Chevy Silverado driven by William Joseph Robinson, 62, of Slayton, was southbound on Highway 23 when the vehicles collided.
Robinson was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, and Helmuth was taken to Avera Granite Falls with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.
