Teen injured in Monday night crash | News, Sports, Jobs

May 5, 2021 NORMANIA TOWNSHIP A Minneota teen was injured in a single-vehicle crash reported Monday night in Yellow Medicine County, the Minnesota State Patrol said. The crash was reported at 8:09 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and 168th Avenue. A 2013 Dodge Durango driven by Rhonda Kay Callens, 50, of Minneota, was traveling westbound on 170th Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway, the State Patrol said. One passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. Callens and a second passenger, age 14, were uninjured, the State Patrol said. The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office and Cottonwood Ambulance responded at the crash scene.

Reporter COTTONWOOD Two people were seriously injured in a Thursday night crash where a vehicle struck a utility pole, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said. A 37-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both from Elysian, were transported to hospitals in Sioux Falls and Robbinsdale. The crash was reported around 8:22 p.m., on the 3300 block of Lyon County Road 10 near Cottonwood, the Sheriff’s Office said. A single vehicle appeared to have left the roadway and hit an electrical utility pole by the side of the road. The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Fleming, 37, and passenger Melissa Lindquist, 40, were trapped inside the damaged vehicle and needed to be extricated by firefighters. Fleming and Lindquist were both transported to Avera Marshall Medical Center, and later airlifted to other hospitals, the Sheriff’s Office said.
