MANKATO, Minn. Drive by the Mankato Islamic Center s parking lot, and something might catch your eye. This is because somebody committed a crime that is really abhorrent in any culture or faith, Abi Sabri said. It s not because we want to display those words in our center.
Sabri is talking about the white Toyota Camry that now bears several words that are derogatory towards women. It s been spray-painted in a maroon shade.
Sabri is one of the co-founders and board members of the Islamic Center there. He said they found the car like that Saturday morning. He added the car belonged to one of the community members who had asked to park his car there while he figured out his finances to fix it up.

(Mankato, MN) Mankato Police are investigating after a body was found inside the bathroom of a grocery store. Deputies say the unidentified 28-year-old man was discovered in the bathroom of the Hy-Vee on Riverfront Drive Sunday night. There were no signs of foul play but the medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Mankato Police have arrested a 51-year-old woman following an incident that ended with the alleged assault of an officer.
Authorities say Raquel Navarro was under the influence of drugs or alcohol in public and was taken to the hospital. She was then transported to the Blue Earth County Jail where authorities say the situation escalated.
“When she went to the jail, it looks like they must have assaulted officers and jail staff. It looks like she is being charged with fourth-degree assault, obstruction with force, fleeing police on foot, trespassing, and crimes against the railroad,” says Dan Schisel, Associate Director of Mankato Public Safety.
