Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will quiz former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh on April 14 over the extortion and misconduct allegations against him by ex-Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
The top cop had alleged that the former home minister had set a target of collection of Rs 100 crore for suspended Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze from hotels and restaurants in Mumbai ever month.

Maharashtra reported 63,294 new COVID-19 cases and 349 people succumbed to the virus on Sunday. As many as 34,008 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. With 9,989 positive cases reported on Sunday in Mumbai, the total caseload reached 5,20,214. As many as 58 patients succumbed to the deadly virus.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray discussed issues like availability of oxygen, use of Remdesivir, availability of beds, treatment methods, enhancement of facilities, imposition of restrictions, strict punitive action with the state COVID task force. The CM will discuss the matters further in another meeting on Monday.In other news, NCP chief Sharad Pawar will undergo a gallbladder operation today at Mumbai s Breach Candy Hospital.
Maharashtra Assistant Police Inspector Riyazuddin Qazi Mumbai API Riyazuddin Qazi suspended  
Mumbai: Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector Riyazuddin Qazi has been suspended by the Mumbai Police after he was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA), in the Antilia bomb scare conspiracy, yesterday. Qazi was a subordinate of suspended Mumbai cop Sachin Waze.
The NIA sources said that Qazi has been charged for destroying evidence. He was produced before a court, where the NIA demanded his custody.
In a CCTV footage, earlier accessed by Times Now, Qazi was seen entering a garage in Vikhroli area and asking for the DVR (digital video recorder) of the garage where the number plates were prepared. The DVR was destroyed by Sachin Waze.
