VIRGINIA BEACH, Va - Tuesday is a day of giving in Hampton Roads. Give Local 757 is all about raising money for local non-profit organizations that strengthen the community.
âWeâre working hard this year with Give Local, said Joy Rios, the founder and Executive Director of Connect With A Wish.
Connect With A Wish helps foster children who are pulled out of their homes. After losing a major sponsor, Rios says she looks forward to raising money on Give Local 757 Day.
âThis is our second year that weâve lost our largest fundraiser, the Pungo Wine Festival. We are truly working hard to fundraiser so we can feel the needs and continue to grow as we have expanded some of our fundraisers to the other cities. We are really counting on it tomorrow to be able to help supplement the money we would have made with our big fundraiser.â

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. â Although public schools in Virginia Beach are now back in the classroom four days a week, COVID-19 has canceled a lot of school activities. Some high schools in the area have already decided to cancel prom. Others are waiting to make a decision.
But one organization that helps children in the foster care system has decided to continue its tradition of getting young ladies ready for prom.
Connect With a Wish, located just a couple of minutes from Kellam High School, has been around for about seven years. They help children of all ages who have been placed into foster care.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Joy Rios started Connect With A Wish in Virginia Beach seven years ago.
She was inspired by the great people in the community doing all they could to help children pulled out of their homes and placed into the foster care system.
She is now one of those great people.
Along with a small group of volunteers, Rios connects generous donations from the community - from essential toiletries and blankets to prom dresses and gifts - with children in foster care.
