VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - We re bringing you another story on the Virginia Beach teenager who has captured the heart of her community.
Abby Furco, a freshman at Kellam High School, was just 4 years old when doctors diagnosed her with a form of leukemia. In February, she marked 10 years since her diagnosis.

After several years of intense treatment, the cancer came back and she underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
Since then, she s had to deal with other serious health problems, including heart failure.
Latasha Holloway was motivated to stand up to the city after she said she discovered her son, who has special needs, was being locked in a secluded room during the school day.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. â Although public schools in Virginia Beach are now back in the classroom four days a week, COVID-19 has canceled a lot of school activities. Some high schools in the area have already decided to cancel prom. Others are waiting to make a decision.
But one organization that helps children in the foster care system has decided to continue its tradition of getting young ladies ready for prom.
Connect With a Wish, located just a couple of minutes from Kellam High School, has been around for about seven years. They help children of all ages who have been placed into foster care.
