JAMMU, Mar 9: In a virtual revolt against the Warrant of Precedence issued yesterday, almost all District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons, vice chairpersons and members have threatened to resign en masse if the Government fails to revise the protocol as cutting across their political affiliation all DDC members resorted to protests outside the Jammu Convention Centre after which Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha cancelled his address to the members at two days ‘Capacity Building Programme’ for the Council members organized by the Rural Development Department.
There was no shortage of women who played prominent roles during in Sikh history – be it during the times of the Sikh Gurus, the period during which Sikhs defeated the Mughals, the Anglo-Sikh wars, resistance against the British, India’s independence, and the struggle for justice during the later part of the 20th century. Paramjeet Kaur last saw her father, Sardar Jorawar Singh, on January 22 when she went to meet him at the Singhu border between Delhi and Haryana. A 75-year-old farmer from Ludhiana’s Ikkolahi village, Jorawar Singh had been protesting against the new agricultural laws since November 26, camped at Singhu along with thousands of other farmers from Punjab and Haryana.
DDC Members Administered Oath Across JK
SRINAGAR: The elected members of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections held in the history of Jammu and Kashmir were on Monday administered oath by respective district heads across all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, 138 DDC members representing 138 Block Constituencies of 10 districts of the division swore in the name of God and pledged to bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India and also uphold the Sovereignty of India.
AT SRINAGAR: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today administered oath to the recently elected members of District Development Council (DDC) of Srinagar, who registered their victory in the first DDC election held in Jammu & Kashmir.
