Family loses home after fire in Plainfield Township

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. â Fire officials say a family has lost their home after a fire in Plainfield Township Monday afternoon.
It happened around 1:45 p.m. at 3751 Mayfield Avenue NE.
Heavy smoke was reported, but fire crews were able to put it out in 20 minutes. All eight people at the home were able to make it out safely, but the family lost a cat in the fire.
The American Red Cross was brought in to provide assistance to the family.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI One half of a duplex was deemed a total loss in a Monday afternoon fire just northeast of the city limits.
Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a three-alarm fire at 1:47 p.m., Feb. 15, at 3751 Mayfield Ave. NE, according to a news release from the Plainfield Fire Department.
Crews arrived on scene at 1:51 p.m. to discover fire showing from the front and rear windows of the single-story duplex. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes and extensive overhaul followed, the release states.

Power outages reported across Sacramento region, SMUD says
The storm, as advertised, has made its presence felt across the capital region Tuesday evening. Just after 11 p.m. about 76,000 customers of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District were without power, mostly due to power lines being knocked down by tree branches or the wind. A number of outages were being sparked by blowing transformers as well, according to the utility.

JOLIET, IL The Joliet Fire Department spent Sunday night trying to find a body underwater in the downtown Joliet s canal. The Joliet Fire Department announced on social media that all divers were on the scene at several locations along the Des Plaines River for a person in the water. The fire department made the announcement at 10:20 p.m.
On Monday, Joliet s fire chief Greg Blaskey issued a news release stating that at 6:23 p.m. the Joliet Fire Department was notified of a possible person in the Des Plaines River near the Cass St. bridge.
