Subscriber only AN IPSWICH man with a history of stealing alcohol has appeared in court on a string of news charges, with his lawyer revealing he is battling drug addiction. Jai Russell Elliott, 29, from Goodna, pleaded guilty to 25 charges including seven counts of stealing; three counts of stealing with a previous conviction; three counts of being in possession of tainted property; four counts of being in possession of drug utensils; possessing property suspected of being used in a drug offence; possession of a knife; obstructing police; wilful damage to a police cell, and failing to appear at court.

Subscriber only A YOUNG father has been told to grow up after facing court for two nasty violent incidents, including one where he tried to fight a youth in a McDonald s car park. Hayden James Dwyer, 24, from South Gladstone, pleaded guilty to two separate charges of causing an affray at Ipswich Magistrates Court. The first charge related to an incident on April 17 in the McDonald s Gladstone car park on Glenlyon Street. The second charge related to an incident on June 16 in Toolooa Street at South Gladstone. Police prosecutor Bronson Ballard said Dwyer had seven pages of criminal offending, which at the age of only 24 was substantial.

He broke open a door with his shoulder then beat up a man he found inside the house. Going before Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence, the 29-year-old father of two pleaded guilty to burglary and committing an offence - domestic violence offence, in Redbank Plains on April 2. Police prosecutor Bronson Ballard said the man was separated from the woman when he dropped by her house at 3.20am.
