SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Two days after police took the custody of two detainees from Srinagar’s Central Jail after their names surfaced in the assassination of advocate Babar Qadri on basis of the alleged disclosures of the three persons already arrested by the police from Srinagar, the family members of two of the latter have maintained that “they are innocent”. They said they have been falsely implicated and tortured during detention.
Police on Thursday said that it arrested five persons including two detenues in connection with the murder of Qadri. SRINAGAR, Dec 11 (Agencies): Families of three Kashmiris detained by Delhi police s Special Cell last week, on Friday appealed authorities of UT and New Delhi to ensure their early release. They said the trio have no militancy links and have never indulged in anti-national activities.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the families staged a protest here in Srinagar s Press Enclave, demanding release of their loved ones who have been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police last week.
Five persons, three from Kashmir and two from Punjab were arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police from Shakarpur area of Delhi. Delhi Police had claimed the arrests were made after a brief shootout in the area.
Srinagar: Family members of the three men from Budgam district who were arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell a few days ago held a demonstration here in Srinagar on Friday to appeal to the central government to release their kin as they were innocent.
On December 7, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had claimed to have arrested five persons, three from Kashmir and two from Punjab, after an ‘encounter’ in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area.
The three Kashmiris include Riyaz Ahmed Rather and Shabir Ahmed Gojri, both residents of Nasrullah Pora village in Budgam district, and Muhammad Ayoub Pathan of Gundhipora village in Beerwah tehsil of Budgam district.
