SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Two days after police took the custody of two detainees from Srinagar’s Central Jail after their names surfaced in the assassination of advocate Babar Qadri on basis of the alleged disclosures of the three persons already arrested by the police from Srinagar, the family members of two of the latter have maintained that “they are innocent”. They said they have been falsely implicated and tortured during detention.
Police on Thursday said that it arrested five persons including two detenues in connection with the murder of Qadri. Earlier reports, quoting unnamed police sources said that that police have taken the custody of two detainees from the Central Jail Srinagar in connection with Babar Qadri assassination case (FIR no. 62/2020 u/s 302 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act and 16/18 UAPA) registered in Police Station Lal Bazar in Srinagar on September 24, 2020.
