As recently as last month, Vermont Health Connect reopened its special enrollment period for uninsured residents.
This followed President Joe Biden s signing of an executive order in January to reopen insurance enrollment on HealthCare.gov. The president s order is intended to expand coverage for people who lost their jobs and employer-based insurance over the course of the pandemic.
The special enrollment period, which lasts through May 14, provides Vermonters with coverage through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, MVP Health Care and Northeast Delta Dental.
To enroll for the insurance coverage, Vermonters should call the state s Customer Support Center at (855) 899-9600, open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The challenge of ‘happy holidays’

While many may be singing that familiar Christmas lyric “Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go,” few – if any – will be doing that this year.
People will not be crowding around the dining table or living room with loved ones to share a meal, swap gifts, and have a merry time.
Even the religious observances that traditionally commemorate one of the most important events in the Christian faith will be different.
In normal times the holiday season – while typically hectic and potentially stressful – can also bring the comfort of annual traditions, time with family and friends, and a break from work. But holidays during a global pandemic? One more aspect of our lives that will be upended, disrupted.
