LAFD Encourages You to have a Safe 4th of July Holiday

LAFD Encourages You to have a Safe 4th of July Holiday Details All fireworks, even the so-called safe and sane variety are  illegal in the City of Los Angeles.  It may be tempting to acquire personal fireworks for your 4th of July celebration, but this year we ask you to Think About Your Neighbor. Personal fireworks are known to negatively affect children, pets, and combat veterans. In addition, the wildfire danger is ever present. We encourage all to seek public fireworks shows, which will be more readily available than they were last year. However, those who use, possess, or transport any type of firework may be subject to criminal prosecution - or worse yet, painful and debilitating injury. Surrounding July 4th last year, LAFD responded to an additional 429 emergency incidents than the daily average. We implore you to celebrate safely and enjoy fireworks exclusively at public shows.

Kiwi amateur Amelia Garvey prevails in crazy three-way playoff to qualify for her second US Open

Her second shot coming to rest just a foot from the pin. “The playoff was crazy. I was up against Anne Van Dam and I was kind of fangirling a little bit whilst also trying to beat her. She was on the tee for the playoff last night and I was so intimidated,” Garvey told New Zealand Golf Magazine. “She ended up getting the first alternate spot so hopefully she will get a start in the tournament come June.” Jamie Squire/Getty Images Kiwi amateur Amelia Garvey will play in the US Open the day after her 21st birthday. Due to Covid-19 protocols, Garvey was unable to get a practice round in before the pre-qualifier at Brentwood Country Club – where she had never played before – so used Google Earth to familiarise herself with the course.

Hot Property: Danny Elfman and Bridget Fonda shed their Hancock Park stunner

Danny Elfman and actress Bridget Fonda have sold the larger of the two for $8.75 million. The married couple offered the two properties up as a package deal for $14.6 million in October, and the smaller home, which Elfman and Fonda used as a guesthouse, is still up for grabs at $4.888 million. The one they just sold is a century old. Elfman, a frequent Tim Burton collaborator whose credits include “Batman,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” bought the place two decades ago. It sits on three-quarters of an acre in Fremont Place, a gated community filled with historic homes and architecturally dramatic mansions. This one spans two stories with colorful, custom spaces across 8,346 square feet.
