LAHORE : Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar was called on by Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) & Lahore General Hospital Prof Dr Muhammad Al-freed Zafar at Governor’s House here on Saturday.
In this meeting, the governor said medical teachers, professors and senior doctors have great responsibility for improving quality healthcare to strengthen public confidence in government hospitals and they should play their full role in ensuring quality healthcare as well.
He said during the Corona epidemic, doctors, nurses and paramedics worked tirelessly and professionally to treat patients suffering from this deadly disease and saved their lives for which they rendered unparalleled services which were undoubtedly commendable.

Doctors praised for working on Eid

LAHORE:Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute & Lahore General Hospital Prof Dr Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar has said that doctors, nurses and paramedics who dedicate the joys of Eid to the suffering humanity deserve appreciation as spending time on an occasion like Eid to serve the patients instead of their own families is commendable in every way.
These views were expressed by Prof Al-freed Zafar while visiting various departments of the LGH and talking to the on-duty staff here Friday where he visited the patients and wished them a happy Eid. Medical Superintendent of General Hospital Dr Abdul Razzaq, Dr Abdul Aziz and other senior doctors were also present.
Ministers review progress on family planning

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Minister for Population Welfare Col (retd) Hashim Dogar chaired a meeting to review performance of different committees on family planning and way forward at the Population Welfare Department here on Thursday.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Capt (retd) Usman Younis, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Barrister Nabeel Awan, Dr Khurram Khan, Ali Babar from Population Welfare Department and Dr Zulfiqar Ali were present in the meeting. The officials of the Population Welfare Department gave a progress review and tabled suggestions to improve the performance.

It would save 700 units per hour and Rs110 million per annum in electricity bills. The saved amount would be spent on the treatment of patients at the hospital.
The PGMI Chief expressed his will to improve practices at LGH per global standards. He suggested that the switch to a green energy source was one of the many steps undertaken to help rank LGH among some of the top institutes in the world.
He also appealed to the energy minister to help expand the area reserved for the hospital.
Responding to the principal’s request, Dr. Akhtar assured that the Federal Government would do what it can with the available resources.
