COVID-19 exposed health disparities for Oklahomans Can we end them?

Kyle Berryhill is only 30, but since COVID-19 hit, he’s now the oldest in his family. Within a matter of weeks in late 2020, he lost his uncle who was more like an older brother to him and his grandfather to COVID-19. He’s relied on his Christian faith to push through the past year as he’s tried to keep his wife and children safe. Kyle’s uncle, Phillip Berryhill, was a choir director with the Chickasaw Nation. He had a natural gift for interacting with kids and a wonderful voice he used to sing songs from old movies and musicals, his nephew said. Kyle and his uncle were close and spent time together just about every weekend. The family would watch movies, play games just be together.

Letters to the editor: On gun control

Letters to the editor: On gun control Las Cruces Sun-News © Cara Owsley/The Enquirer Amy Johnson of Mt. Auburn holds an unloaded 44 Magnum during a concealed carry weapon (CCW) class at New Prospect Church in Roselawn. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. We need to learn as women.. know I need knowledge on gun safety and gun laws . Johnson said. These letters published in the April 21, 2021 print edition of the Las Cruces Sun-News. Common sense gun control can make a difference In light of recent mass killings by guns in the U.S. I need to respond to Randy Lynch commentary in the Sun-News on April 11 about the gun debate. He said the AR-15 isn’t a military weapon and that any gun control ideas are ineffective. He said, “all stricter gun laws do is target and victimize law abiding citizens and yes, good guys with guns do stop bad guys with guns.” How have we become so cynical about addressing this issue?
